The musical project of "L-VIS like ELVIS Show!" is a result of years of my passion for music and singing.
It all began when I went with my parents for a diplomatic mission to Tanzania (at that time I was 3 years old). That is where - during our 5-year stay - an African baby sitter often took care of me. It is thanks to her, that I learned the rhythms and music of the local inhabitants. Apparently I liked this music as a child, since we danced and sang together more and more often.
After Africa, we changed climates, although that wasn't the only change. After a couple of years I settled down in Oslo, in Norway. That is where, when I was 10 years old, I read an article about Elvis Presley. I remember it very well. It was the year 1977, the year of the death of the King of rock'n'roll. Up to now I just don't know how it happened, but very quickly I got interested in his character and his work. Soon, as a gift, I got my first tape with movie hits in which he starred, including the famous "Return to sender".
In the Norwegian primary school, for one of the musical lessons I brought with me the lyrics of "Jailhouse Rock" and "Return to Sender", songs which I earlier carefully - after uncountable efforts of listening to the texts - wrote down with my father. I started to buy posters and souvenirs. I had the feeling that Elvis was becoming my idol... When I got back to Poland, I started studies at the Warsaw University, but music was still a part of my life at that time. I would listen to different songs and different performers. I sang and danced more often.
After studies, I started gaining experience as a manager in Polish and foreign companies. In one of them ("Kraft Jacobs"), one of my responsibilities was to organize events. I just loved that role of being close to the stage, music, events.
Despite that, I was constantly looking for a way to be able to sing. A series of some nice accidental circumstances generated an opportunity thanks to which, I was invited to become a member of an international, 10 men's acapella group ("Tamka 54"). Those were fantastic years, especially since I was having great fun while gaining experience on the stage. Still, all the time I was thinking of combining two passions: singing and my fascination with respect to Presley.
2004 turned out to be crucial in the implementation of my idea of creating a show with Elvis songs. That is when I met my future business partner - Witold Komuda. He was recommended to me by my colleague-musician at the time when I was looking for a DJ to conduct my wedding. That is how we met, become fond of each other and then became friends.
Witold - that is "DJ Vito" - proved himself to be a real professional not only with respect to running wedding parties. As a person running karaoke programmes on an everyday basis, as a singing person in contact with the karaoke-singing participants he willingly became my vocal trainer and a technical specialist responsible for sound and lightning. And that is how it started - the fulfilment of my dreams to be able to sing.
Seeing certain market demand I came to the conclusion that uniting my own, existing training company with my musical passion and the desire to sing (as "Leszek Podstawski - Polish Elvis") would bring results and satisfaction. The plan of "L-VIS like ELVIS Show!" was originated. First rehearsals started. It took us many months before we made our first show.
Since 20.11.2012 I am performing with my own 6-persons band called VIVA Elvis! Band.
Today we have done numerous performances, including corporate events, however for me "L-VIS like Elvis Show!" still is - first of all - my passion and a proof that dreams come true.
I am a trainer and a coach with a managerial past in such companies as Jacobs, HBO or Harvard. Privately I am a happy son, husband and father.
